I apologize for so long an absence, unexpected though it was. I’d like to share an update on our family situation and on my return to the Seeds of Faith Bible in a Year project.
Family Update
As you know, I needed to press pause on Seeds of Faith due to my son being in a car accident. It was not life-threatening, praise God, but it resulted in serious injuries. He broke his jaw in two places and broke his right ankle. Ten and eleven days after the accident, respectively, he had surgeries on back-to-back days. The first week was very difficult, but he turned a corner the weekend following his surgeries and has steadily improved since then. He’s now four weeks removed from both surgeries. He still has several weeks to go for recovery, then some rehab after that. But he is doing quite well, I’m glad to report.
Other News
In other news, I had a Christian pilgrimage trip to Spain scheduled for the Monday after his surgeries (a little over two weeks following the accident). The pilgrimage was the Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage dating to the ninth century that concludes at the cathedral in Santiago, location of the relics of St. James the Great. This had been in the plans since last summer and it was a trip I had worked with a friend and pastoral colleague to organize for a group of nine. Originally, I had planned to work in advance and schedule out the Seeds entries to post during the trip. The accident changed that.
Seeing that my son was improving on a good timeline, I still made the trip by shortening my itinerary and delayed my departure to that Thursday in order to meet the group late but still make the pilgrimage aspect of the trip. I’m back now and things have settled into a better rhythm even though we are still juggling things a little bit.
Moving Forward
Moving forward, here’s the plan. I’ve been wanting to write about the trip, what doing a Christian pilgrimage was like, and how I’ve been reflecting on it since my return. My plan is to do that here on Seeds of Faith. I’ll post something later this week on my trip, which was on the Camino Ingles (the English Way—there are many routes for the Camino).
Then, come next Monday, March 17, I’ll resume our journey through the Bible in a Year. Later this week, I’ll confirm what readings I’ll be taking up when we get to Monday.
Please forgive the long absence. Life is less up in the air finally and I’m ready to get back in the groove. Thank you for your prayers and your patience.
I'm so glad he is doing well which means everyone is doing better! That's the way it works! I can't wait to read about your journey. I've tried to keep up with the "reading" but I'm not sure I'm on track. I'll just start whereever we are and go back and read missed part later. Leviticus got me bogged down. 😳😁❤️Charlotte Stanley
Glad you took a break for your family and yourself! I look forward to reading about your pilgrimage.
