Praying the Scripture Weekends 2024
Welcome to the weekend!
For 2024, we’re going to practice praying the scriptures on the post that leads into the weekend. To do so, we’ll be using insights from the book Praying the Bible by Donald Whitney. He’s a professor of biblical spirituality and associate dean at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. I love this resource. This book and Methodist adaptations of the Book of Common Prayer Daily Office constitute much of the foundation for my praying.
We begin next week. If you want to pick up a copy, it’s a short, quick, and informative read. Here’s a link.
Also, a heads up: I plan to enable a paid subscription level around the first of February. All the Monday-Friday morning scripture reflections will remain free. Seeds of Faith is a personal project outside of my local church ministry. Enabling paid subscriptions will help me keep this project going while allowing the daily posts to remain free for all.
I’m developing what will go into the paid subscription level as a thank you for supporting Seeds of Faith. This weekend post is a good candidate for something to move into the paid subscription “thank you” bonus bin, but again, that won’t be until February.
“But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” (Matthew 13:23)
